YOUTH ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS

We recognize the importance of education and awareness for those who are the future of animal rescue, as pet owners, advocates, volunteers, and leaders. We are proud to offer a variety of informative programs for children (K-12) at our center and offsite, where they will learn how we rescue dogs and cats, learn pet safety and training tips, participate in shelter activities, and share ways for them to help us save more lives.

We look forward to meeting you soon!

GROUP VISITS AT OUR CENTER

Group visits are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Evenings and weekends are available upon request.  We offer an age-appropriate presentation, a tour of our facilities, and time to interact with adoptable dogs and cats.

PROGRAM TOPICS

  • Animal safety, including reading animal body language
  • Dog training and safety
  • A day in the life of animal rescue at our center
  • How kids can make a difference in helping homeless pets
  • A Q&A session

Our customized program is also offered to youth and adult special needs groups, which includes a tour, a short presentation, and a visit by one of our adoptable dogs. Please contact us for details.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Please complete our event registration request form.
  • Group sizes must be between 5 and 25 students.
  • There must be at least one adult present per 5 minors.
  • A youth liability waiver signed by a guardian or parent must be completed for each minor in attendance. The form will be provided before your visit.
  • Groups must arrive on time in order to take full advantage of the time allotted for the program.

FUNDRAISING SUGGESTION

In preparation for your visit, please consider organizing a donation drive with student and group participation. Our experience has shown that the kids are very motivated to help when they feel that they are making a difference, even if it’s something small.  We always need supplies to care for our animals and keep the shelter running smoothly.  Students can opt to bring anything from our MOSTLY MUTTS WISH LIST.  We also appreciate monetary donations.

Event organizers or teachers will be given contact information to reach their Mostly Mutts Ambassador with any questions.

OFFSITE VISITS TO SCHOOLS

We can come to you! Our school classroom presentation is a great way to engage students with an interactive program which may include a visit with one of our ambassador dogs. Kids will learn about rescue and how to safely interact with dogs and cats, and will gain an understanding of how to keep pets safe. We offer a brief presentation and time for questions.

Visits are typically scheduled Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Other times may be available upon request.
