ADOPTING YOUR NEW COMPANION

When you adopt from Mostly Mutts, we go to great lengths to help ensure that your new pet will be a great fit. Many of our Mutts attend Mostly Mutts University training to identify behavior issues and personality traits, to better match them with potential adopters. All of our animals have all had a veterinary check-up, been spayed or neutered, and are microchipped. And because good dogs make happy people, all Mutts come with FREE obedience and socialization training.

Please Note:  You need to review the Steps below so that you have the required information available to begin your Adoption Form.

3 Easy Steps to Your Furever Friend

1. Adoption application. Whether you’ve fallen in love with one of our current rescues, or are considering a future pet, it all begins with our adoption application. This form provides important information to help our counselors ensure you and your new pet are a great match. If you’re considering adopting in the future, the information you provide can help us watch for the right companion for you.
Following submission of your form, one of our counselors will follow up with you for an interview within 24-48 hours. To complete your application, you will need:

  • Contact information for all adult members of your household since they must provide their agreement to adopt.
  • Two personal references, whom we can contact. Please make your references aware in advance that you have provided their contact information, so that they are prepared to hear from us.
  • Your veterinarian’s contact information if you currently own a pet, or have owned pets in the recent past.

2. Meet and Greet. Once the application and interview are complete, it’s time to meet your new friend! Your counselor will set up this meeting at our shelter.

3. Finalize the adoption. If your meet and greet goes well and you are ready to adopt, we’ll complete the necessary paperwork, provide you with any medical records for your veterinarian, and answer any final questions before you take your pet home.
