We couldn’t exist without the commitment of volunteers who are willing to donate their time, skills, and passion to be part of our rescue mission. With a current volunteer base of over 800 people, our facility is an inspiring place, where our volunteers experience the camaraderie of animal lovers who share a common goal: to help save lives. Every step along the way of a homeless animal’s journey relies on volunteers.

To become a volunteer, you must be 18 years of age or older. If you are looking to complete Court Ordered Community Service, please fill out the Community Service Volunteer Application HERE.  If you are under 18, please explore our Youth Volunteer Opportunities.

Dog Walking/Feeding

One of the cornerstone volunteer functions at Mostly Mutts is walking and feeding our dogs, as well as crate cleanup when needed. There are four shifts to ensure that our dogs get exercise, love, attention, and several opportunities to relieve themselves. Shifts run four times daily, seven days a week, rain or shine, in hot or cold weather! Each shift lasts approximately two hours.
Shift leaders are always on hand to guide and direct each volunteer and answer any questions.
Since we invest time to provide comprehensive training, a commitment to volunteer with us for a minimum of three months and eight hours monthly is required. A weekly schedule is preferred.

● 1st shift - 8 am (walking and feeding)
● 2nd shift - 12 pm every day
● 3rd shift - 5 pm (walking and feeding)
● 4th shift - 8 pm every day except Friday: 7:30 pm on Friday

Cat Care Volunteers

We welcome cat lovers who can maintain our kitty rooms, to ensure their food bowls are filled, litter is freshened and their play spaces are organized. Kitten socialization volunteers are also welcomed, to help observe personality traits and provide some cuddle and purr time.

Reception Desk Volunteers

Do you enjoy being the first point of contact with the public? When you become a reception/front desk volunteer, you will create the first and most lasting impression of how wonderful we are. Our reception volunteers field many questions from callers and visitors and we provide all the training you’ll need to become a vital resource to those who reach out to us.

● Answering and returning phone calls
● Greeting guests and adoptors
● Special assignments as needed

Mostly Mutts Market Volunteers

Much of the revenue that supports our organization comes from our thrift store. Volunteers are vital to keeping the market well designed and up to date on great bargains! Our Market is located at 5505 Bells Ferry Road and we’re always in need of helpers for intake, checkout, pricing and more. If you like clothing, home design and working with others, come join us at Mostly Mutts Market!

Volunteering at the market can be flexible to fit your busy schedule.  If you’d love to help our cause but working with the animals is not for you, the Market is a great option for you!  The Market is also available for groups who would like to volunteer together (corporate groups, school groups, church groups).  Help us save lives together!
